Friends of Buck's Rock Alumni Council March 14th
Jeffrey Paul Bobrick and Bob Solomon are at the meeting site working on post cards. Nicole Singer and Lew Frisch are on the phone. We are also briefly joined by Juliet Ross, stuck on a train, and Debbie Urquin, calling in from Hoboken.
Jackie Keveson has designed beautiful post cards for the Spring Event at Ed Kopels. We are mailing 1500. Also doing a mailing to all 2004 CIT families including a copy of the latest newsletter.
Discussions with Mickey formalized a proposal to make the 5th weekend of the camp session an Alumni Return To Buck's Rock weekend. Our council voted to formalize this as an annual activity. We are trying to get our volunteer speaker/demonstrators for July 30, 2005 lined up ASAP so that we can work with shop heads well in advance of the summer.
With Mickey's approval we will ask the post first year CIT's to assist in publicizing alumni activities at the camp through signage, discussions, etc. so that campers get a good sense of what is going to happen that weekend.
Bob reports slow response to fundraising appeal with only 9 checks totalling $ 300 to date.
We reviewed all the details of the coming Special Event at Ed Kopels and announced the slate of entertainers for the evening: Julia Adolphe, Dan Seiden, Ivan Rubenstein Gillis and the talented comedian Kurt Fitzpatrick.
Discussed how phone calls work the best in getting people involved. It was proposed that the Friend of Buck's Rock EC members could each commit to call ten people to enlist their support and participation. Nicole will help work on calls to fellow CIT's. Jeffrey will look into getting a call list together which could be divided up among EC members. The need for participation of all the EC was discussed.
Nicole Singer reported on a very successful CIT reunion despite horrific weather which trimmed attendance from 30-40 back to 23. Only downside was that expense ran $ 150 over projections so the reunion generated goodwill and support but also some cash draw beyond our original budget. This will have to be avoided in the future. There was lots of activity after the event and the help of Roger Bailey, Ivan Rubenstein-Gillis and Erica Zeller was very much appreciated.
Both our scholarship campers from last summer are returning in 2005. Good News
