September 22, 2003 Alumni Council Meeting

September 22, 2003 Alumni Council Meeting

1. Introductions (in attendance): Jeffrey Paul Bobrick, Lewis Frisch, Stephanie Segal Hartman, Eric Weiss, Jackie Keveson, Bob Solomon, Marc Richter (via conference call) and Juliet Ross (via conference call).

2. Executive Director’s Report - Jeffrey Paul Bobrick: Reviewed problems with website. Ian is ready to test new database but can't get on our site which is currently frozen. Noah doesn't have time to fix it. Noah suggested we hire an associate in his firm who could oversee timely site repairs on an as needed basis. Charlie's donation could help fund this. All present approved expenditure of funds for this purpose.

Two billing issues: Need for Charlie to resolve a domain name bill issue. Also need to verify that we have indeed paid Alumni Finder and that they have recorded payment.

3. Treasurer’s Repot - Bob Solomon: Bob reports balance of $ 7395 and acknowledges generous gift from Jamie, partner in Charlie Ledley's company. Marc Richter needs to send the camp a final payment on the scholarship: $ 1497.50.

4. Scholarship Report - Stephanie Segal Hartman for Charlie Ledley: We need to get some brief written comments from Scholarship recipients concerning their summer, the camp and our scholarship program. We will develop our own Scholarship application.

5. Fundraising Repot - Stephanie Segal Hartman: If we are going to have a concert in 2004, we need a volunteer to step forward to handle the logistics of the concert. If we can't find someone willing to do this, then it will not be practical to do the concert as the Executive Committee cannot once again plan this without additional assistance from a member volunteer. If we are going to do a Spring Concert fundraiser we should make basic decisions by the end of October so as to allow for publicity in our next newsletter and at the winter reunion. Hopefully we can find a willing and capable volunteer by November.

6. Membership Report - Juliet Ross: Juliet reported the BRASS (Buck's Rock Search and Seek) project is plugging away at 1981 and getting some good feedback on the success rate. We are tracking campers, CIT's and JC's.

Juliet also reports on the nature of Friendster and reasons for linking Friends of Buck's Rock to Friendster. She will oversee initial maintenance of our page. Steps will be taken to use a yahoo, Juno or similar address in connection with the Friendster so as to protect the Friends of Buck's Rock address and site. Many younger alumni regularly use Friendster and it would be good for Friends of Buck's Rock to be one of their friends.

7. Events Outreach Report - Lewis Frisch: Following the success this summer of the Bone Holders Reunion, Lew requested $100-$200 for printing and mailing a BONEHOLDERS REUNION DIRECTORY. The expenditure was approved.

8. Newsletter Report - Jackie Keveson: Jackie discussed the postponement of the newsletter this past summer. The target now is to put out the Winter/Spring issue by early December. Therefore, content must be provided by early November. The theme will remain "music, politics and Buck's Rock as planned and will be highlighted by an interview with Pete Seeger conducted and written up by Norman Ross, Juliet's father.

9. Elections will take place at the November meeting. Juliet will have to cut back her activities in March/April so she wishes to serve as a Member At Large and Interim Membership Director, pending someone else filling that Membership position in the Spring of 2004. Jackie would like to make some changes in her current role.

10. Meeting Adjourned.
